Jammu, April 10: Shri Anand Jain, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K, convened a preparatory meeting today to review arrangements for the upcoming Inter-Battalion and Inter-Zone Sports Meet-2025, scheduled to be held from April 21 to April 30, 2025, in Jammu.
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Inter-Battalion Sports Meet will take place on April 21 and April 25, respectively, while the ceremonies for the Inter-Zone Sports Meet will be held on April 27 and April 30.
In his address, ADGP Anand Jain emphasized the importance of these sporting events, which are part of the J&K Police’s Annual Sports Calendar. He highlighted that the primary aim of these meets is to identify and nurture talented athletes from various wings of the force, enabling them to represent J&K Police in state and national-level competitions as part of the Central Sports Team.
The events will feature competitions across multiple disciplines, including Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Tug of War, Athletics (Shot Put, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, Long and High Jump), Shooting, Badminton, Table Tennis, Wushu, Weightlifting, Fencing, Archery, Swimming, Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, Pencak Silat, Taekwondo, and Arm Wrestling.
Competitions will be held in both men’s and women’s categories, covering different zones such as Armed, SDRF/HG, Training, and INTELSECT (comprising CID, Crime, Telecom, Traffic, Security, Railways, and SSG). It is expected that between 1,500 to 2,000 players, including Gazetted Officers, will participate in the games.
ADGP Jain reiterated that the main objective of organizing such events is to promote a strong sports culture within the Jammu and Kashmir Police and to provide a robust platform for budding athletes to showcase their talent.
Earlier, DySP Sports APHQ Shri Kuldeep Hondoo delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation, outlining the formation of various committees and sub-committees for the smooth conduct of the events.

इंटर-बटालियन स्पोर्ट्स मीट का उद्घाटन समारोह 21 अप्रैल को और समापन समारोह 25 अप्रैल को होगा, जबकि इंटर-ज़ोन स्पोर्ट्स मीट का उद्घाटन 27 अप्रैल और समापन 30 अप्रैल को किया जाएगा।
अपने संबोधन में एडीजीपी आनंद जैन ने इन खेल आयोजनों के महत्व को रेखांकित किया, जो जम्मू-कश्मीर पुलिस के वार्षिक खेल कैलेंडर का हिस्सा हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि इस तरह के आयोजनों का मुख्य उद्देश्य पुलिस बल के विभिन्न विंग्स से प्रतिभाशाली खिलाड़ियों की पहचान कर उन्हें राज्य और राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर जम्मू-कश्मीर पुलिस का प्रतिनिधित्व करने हेतु तैयार करना है।
प्रतियोगिताएं बास्केटबॉल, फुटबॉल, हैंडबॉल, हॉकी, कबड्डी, वॉलीबॉल, रस्साकशी, एथलेटिक्स (गोला फेंक, भाला फेंक, डिस्कस थ्रो, लंबी कूद, ऊंची कूद), शूटिंग, बैडमिंटन, टेबल टेनिस, वुशु, भारोत्तोलन, फेंसिंग, तीरंदाजी, तैराकी, कुश्ती, मुक्केबाजी, जूडो, बॉडीबिल्डिंग, पावरलिफ्टिंग, पेंचक सिलाट, ताइक्वांडो और आर्म रेसलिंग जैसे खेलों में आयोजित की जाएंगी।
पुरुष और महिला दोनों श्रेणियों में विभिन्न ज़ोन — आर्म्ड, एसडीआरएफ/होमगार्ड, ट्रेनिंग और इंटेलसेक्ट (जिसमें सीआईडी, क्राइम, टेलीकॉम, ट्रैफिक, सिक्योरिटी, रेलवे और एसएसजी शामिल हैं) के बीच प्रतिस्पर्धाएं होंगी। लगभग 1,500 से 2,000 खिलाड़ी, जिनमें राजपत्रित अधिकारी भी शामिल होंगे, इन खेलों में भाग लेने की उम्मीद है।
एडीजीपी जैन ने कहा कि ऐसे आयोजनों का उद्देश्य खेल संस्कृति को बढ़ावा देना और पुलिस बल के भीतर छिपी खेल प्रतिभाओं को एक मंच प्रदान करना है।
