Reasi, May 12, 2025: District Police Reasi acted promptly after a disturbing video showing a man brutally beating a minor girl went viral on social media. The incident, which occurred in the jurisdiction of Police Station Mahore, has triggered widespread outrage and swift police intervention.
Taking suo moto cognizance of the video, the Mahore Police registered an FIR against the accused, who has been identified as the father of the victim. The video, which began circulating online on May 9, 2025, was reportedly filmed by a local resident and showed the man assaulting his daughter over a minor disagreement.
Recognizing the serious nature of the incident and the potential trauma to the child, Mahore Police immediately launched legal action. An FIR (No. 20/2025) was filed under relevant sections of the law, and the accused was taken into custody without delay.
The minor girl has since been rescued and handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Reasi to ensure her safety, care, and psychological support.
District Police Reasi reiterated its commitment to child protection and appealed to the public to report any incidents of abuse or violence to their nearest police station or through official helplines.
