Rajouri: Continuing its intensified campaign against drug trafficking, Rajouri Police achieved a significant success by apprehending a suspected drug peddler and recovering a heroin-like narcotic substance from his possession.
According to official sources, a police party from Police Station Rajouri was conducting routine patrolling near Salani Bridge when they intercepted an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK11A-6886, which was coming from the Muradpur side.
During the checking, the driver was identified as Aquib Khan, son of Abdul Majeed, a resident of Sagrawat, Darhal in District Rajouri. Upon search, the police recovered approximately 1.86 grams of heroin-like narcotic substance from his possession.
The accused was immediately taken into custody, and the contraband along with the vehicle was seized in accordance with legal procedures.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 160/2026 under relevant sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rajouri.
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to identify both forward and backward linkages in the drug supply chain and to dismantle the network involved in illegal narcotics trafficking.
Rajouri Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating drug menace from the district and urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug-related activities.
