Reasi: Continuing its firm action against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police achieved a major success by apprehending two drug peddlers and recovering a significant quantity of contraband substance.
According to official sources, a police team from Police Station Reasi established a naka at IRP Chowk during routine patrolling. During checking, an Alto car bearing registration number JK20-6890 was intercepted. The driver, along with another occupant, attempted to flee from the spot, raising suspicion. Acting swiftly, the police team successfully intercepted the vehicle and apprehended both individuals.
The accused have been identified as:
- Anil Kumar, son of Shanker Das, resident of Kanjali, presently residing at Nai Basti Reasi
- Mohan Singh, son of Sunil Singh, resident of Kumar Morh Katra, District Reasi
During personal search conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, police recovered approximately 6.20 grams of heroin-like substance from Anil Kumar and 6.45 grams from Mohan Singh. In total, 12.65 grams of heroin (commonly known as “Chitta”) was seized from their possession.
During questioning, both accused failed to provide any satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of the contraband. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 66/2026 under relevant sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of SHO Police Station Reasi, Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Reasi Vishal Singh Jamwal and Additional SP Reasi Iftekhar Ahmed (JKPS).
