Reasi | District Police Reasi, during routine patrolling on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Track under the jurisdiction of Police Post Ban Ganga, took strict action against an unauthorized pony operator.
During patrolling near Bathing Ghat-01, Ban Ganga, the police party stopped a person for checking who was found working as a pony operator on the SMVD Track. On questioning, he disclosed his identity as Gulam Mustafa, S/o Late Mir Mohammad, resident of Chumbian, Tehsil and District Reasi.
Upon verification, the individual failed to produce a valid registered pony/service card. He admitted that he was operating on the SMVD Track without any authorization and assumed he would not be checked. By doing so, he violated the notification issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Katra.
Accordingly, FIR No. 04/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS has been registered at Police Station Katra, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out by In-charge Police Post Ban Ganga PSI Rahul Jamwal and SHO Police Station Katra Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Shri Vipin Chandran, JKPS.
SSP Reasi Shri Paramvir Singh, JKPS, reiterated that District Police Reasi is committed to ensuring strict compliance with rules and regulations on the SMVD Track for the safety, security, and convenience of pilgrims. He warned that strict action will continue against all violators.
