Rajouri Police Recover 1.4 Kg of Charas (Commercial Quantity); One Arrested, Vehicle Seized

Rajouri, Zahid Shah: In a significant action against drug trafficking, Rajouri Police recovered approximately 1.4 kilograms of charas, classified as a commercial quantity under the law, during a routine naka checking operation. One accused was arrested on the spot, and the vehicle used for transporting the contraband was seized.

According to official sources, the operation was conducted at Tariq Bridge. During the checking, police intercepted a Maruti S-Presso bearing registration number JK11J-4222. On search of the vehicle, officers recovered the narcotic substance concealed inside.

The accused has been identified as Mohd Munir S/O Abdul Rashid, a resident of Dandote, Tehsil Budhal, District Rajouri. He was taken into custody immediately after the recovery. The vehicle allegedly used in the transportation of the contraband has also been seized as part of the legal proceedings.

A case has been registered vide FIR No. 84/2026 under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, which prescribes stringent penalties for possession and trafficking of commercial quantities of prohibited substances. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the recovered narcotics.

Reiterating its commitment to curb drug trafficking, Rajouri Police has appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share credible information to help eliminate the menace of drugs from society.
